Lakeshore Records will release the soundtrack for the Hulu Original Series Casual on November 27 (hey, that’s today!), and we have an exclusive soundtrack preview for you. A comedy series about “a bachelor brother and his newly divorced sister living under one roof again”, who together “coach each other through the crazy world of dating while raising her teenage daughter”, our own Josh Oakley had nothing but high praise for the show. In his review, he stated, “One of Casual’s best qualities, and it has many, is how free of judgment it is towards any lifestyle. No effort is made to entrap characters with cheap moralism. In fact, as becomes clear late in the first season, if Lehmann is deriding anything it’s an attempt to live by any hard and fast code. Self-imposed principles will only cause harm in the world of dating, and Casual routinely skewers attempts to place people in romantic or sexual boxes. Laura, the teenage daughter, is sexually active and has the hots for a teacher. Alex sleeps around, occasionally stumbling on a desire for a more meaningful connection. Valerie eventually does the dirty deed, but that doesn’t suddenly fix the ache from her terminal marriage.”
The soundtrack features score by Mateo Messina, who scored the Academy Award®-winning Juno (2007) and this year’s Barely Lethal. Check out an exclusive preview of the soundtrack above and tracklist below.
