Here Are the 2017 Oscar Nominations

It’s that time again! Time for Hollywood to get all gussied up, hit the red carpet and give themselves a big old pat on the back. Yes, it’s time for The Academy Awards! The 89th Academy Awards will be held on February 26, 2017, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. As is the case every year, it’s important to remind you that in the grand scheme of things, the Oscars don’t really matter. The Academy is known for forgetting films that truly deserve recognition (Inside Llewyn Davis) while laving praise on less films (Forrest Gump). It can be frustrating, but it’s okay. Awards are nice, but frivolous. That said, this year’s Oscars might be a welcomed distraction from the hellscape we currently find ourselves dwelling in. And while I condone not getting bent out of shape over nominations, it is worth pointing out some egregious snubs this year: no nom for Amy Adams, even though there were two performances — Arrival and Nocturnal Animals — to choose from; no love for Silence at all. You can scope out the full list below.
