The phenomenal Kathryn Bigelow returns with her first feature film since 2012’s Zero Dark Thirty, and gosh darn it that’s very exciting. Detroit focuses on the 1967 Detroit Riot: during a police raid of an unlicensed bar, confrontations between cops and patrons and observers on the street evolved into one of the deadliest, most destructive riots in U.S. history, lasting five days. The cast includes John Boyega, Jack Reynor, Will Poulter, Ben O’Toole, Hannah Murray, with a screenplay by frequent Bigelow collaborator Mark Boal.
