Watch: ‘The Fate of the Furious’ Trailer

The once-called Furious 8 is now The Fate of the Furious, and the first trailer is here to get your motor running. The Fast and the Furious franchise has weathered personal tragedy and become a mammoth hit, delivering entertaining action flicks and close-ups of spinning car tires galore. The usual gang is back for The Fate of the Furious: Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky and recent-addition Kurt Russell. New members of the cast include Charlize Theron (as the film’s big bad), and, most surprisng of all, Helen Mirren(!). The plot (lol, like it matters) involves Vin Diesel’s Dom being seduces by Theron’s mysterious character back into a life of crime. Much driving ensues. The Fate of the Furious opens April 14, 2017. Watch the first trailer below, and check out a rather depressing poster as well.

Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.

From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world’s stage…and to bring home the man who made them a family.
